The competition is open to all artists age 18 and older living and working in the United States or Canada. Submit original work produced in the last 2 years. All media and processes accepted, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, ceramics, textiles, new media, electronic and interactive, installation, and video (looped on DVD).

We are excited to announce the third annual national juried art show, Wide Open 3, opening March 18, 2012. And once again we are fortunate to be joined by a very prestigious juror—Charlotta Kotik, Curator Emerita of Contemporary Art at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. With her direction, we look forward to a really awesome show.

Ours is a truly unique gallery—a massive Civil War-era warehouse on the Red Hook waterfront in Brooklyn, NY. Its enormous space affords us the opportunity to exhibit really huge work, and we welcome it. We will be using 8,000 square feet for this show, and look forward to exhibiting artist's work from all around the country, work in all sizes, subjects, and media, except film (it's almost completely wide open).

The artist whose work is voted 'Best' by attendees at the Show Opening will receive a $500 cash prize and a complimentary one-year BWAC membership.

CURATORS' CHOICE: $250.00
The artist whose work the Show Curators choose for excellence will receive a $250.00 cash prize and a complimentary one-year BWAC membership.

BEST IN CATEGORY: $1200
$100 each in the following twelve categories: Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor, Film Photography, Digital Photography, Classical Pastel/Drawing/Print/Graphics, Computer-aided Pastel/ Drawing/Print/Graphics, Mixed Media, Sculpture, Assemblage, Installation, Fabric. Artists accepted into Wide Open can also send one additional work that will be exhibited in our Affordable Art area. All works must be smaller than 12" x 16" and must be priced for sale at $500 or under.
